Lions Club of Guwahati Parvarish extended medical assistance to Mr. Rakesh Sarkar, a 48-year-old patient who had been diagnosed with GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor) at the level of the first part of the duodenum. Considering the seriousness of his condition and the need for immediate surgical intervention, President Lion Mohit Dugar came forward and sponsored the entire cost of the operation, amounting to approximately ₹2.10 lakhs. The patient underwent a major surgical procedure at Dispur Polyclinic & Hospitals Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati, which included Exploratory Laparotomy, Excision of GIST at D1 level and Gastrojejunostomy. The surgery was successfully performed, and following the required postoperative care and observation, Mr. Rakesh Sarkar was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition. This project was undertaken with the objective of ensuring that financial constraints did not prevent a person in need from receiving essential and potentially life-saving medical treatment. The initiative exemplifies the spirit of compassion and service that Lions Club of Guwahati Parvarish strives to uphold.
